How do I cope with holidays? What if nobody is there for me…?
Hello friend,
It’s been a while since I’ve made a post, but I’ve been thinking about you. With the holidays and families getting together for summer cookouts and barbeques, I know firsthand that this can be a hard time.
It’s hard to be happy for other people when we don’t have someone to celebrate with. But know that even if you’re at home alone right now, Jesus sees you. He knows exactly where your heart is and what you’re feeling. You are not alone!
I want to ask you today to write down what you believe Jesus sees in you. I have a couple to help start off your list:
God’s Design
Loved
Chosen
Adopted
I know it’s hard, but admitting these things can help you. Taking your time and energy to remind yourself of who you truly are will leave no room for negative thoughts or voices. When we are at our weakest point is when Jesus can fill us up with His love.
The best thing about being at rock bottom is that the only way left to go is up. Turn your face to the sky and reach out to the only One who can lift you up.
I’m proud of you for writing some things down. I would encourage you to hold onto that note, and whenever you’re feeling down or empty, remember how Jesus sees you. When he looks at you, he doesn’t see a mess – he doesn’t see someone abused or forgotten. He sees his masterpiece, someone crafted in the image of a King.
You are His handiwork created to glorify Him. Nothing you can do will ever change that.
I hope that this activity helped you a little bit, and now you have something good to look back on. Something to remember this holiday season that will encourage you.
When you are feeling anxious, sad, or down, I encourage you to read Psalm 23. It reminds us that Jesus is our shepherd, and he guides us where he knows we should be. Hold on dear friend; you will get through this.
With Love,
Missy
