God WILL Silence the Tempest
Hey Friends,
It’s Mickey.
I wanted to share with y’all a lesson I’ve been learning as I write Lyra Stormwind. That lesson is that
God WILL Silence the Tempest
Even when it is loud and scary, it is nothing Christ can’t calm.
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.“
–Mark 4:39–
He has not fallen asleep while we are in trouble. He gets up and rebukes the weapons formed against us.
“no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.”
-Isaiah 54:17–
That is our heritage Friend.
As I continue writing Lyra Stormwind, God keeps showing me even more truths through the story. One of the biggest is that
hope survives where it is told not too.
On the Silver Tempest, like in many of our lives, people face fear, abuse, captivity, and storms that seem impossible to overcome. Yet hope remains because hope is not rooted in circumstances—
it is rooted in Christ.
Lyra also reminded me that
Love is powerful.
Take a minute to remember who we call the king of love –Jesus-.
The world tells us strength is found in being harsh, getting revenge, or hardening our hearts. But true strength is found in showing the same love God showed us. That means getting the person help when they need it. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is give up the person to Christ and stop trying to change them ourselves.
Another theme that Christ has been showing me is, Identity.
So many characters, like myself, struggle with who they are because of what others have done to them. But God does not define us by our wounds, mistakes, or what people say about us.
Our identity is found in Him. Jesus Christ.
As Lyra learns throughout her journey, our worth comes from God—not from the storms we face.
The story also explores healing.
Healing is rarely Instant
Sometimes God heals us one small step, one prayer, one act of obedience at a time. Just like a ship repaired plank by plank, God often restores our hearts little by little.
Finally, Lyra Stormwind is a story about redemption. No matter how broken a person is, no matter how dark the storm becomes,
God can still REWRITE our story.
He specializes in bringing light into darkness and hope into hopeless places. As captives aboard a ship we are called to sing even while we suffer because we know something the world often forgets:
our chains do not have the final word. Jesus does.
“We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame.”
-Romans 5:3-5-
Whatever storm you may be facing today, remember this: the same Jesus who spoke peace over the waves is still speaking peace over His children.
💙 The tempest may be loud, but Christ is louder. 💙
With love,
Mickey Moretti
