Be Honest
Hello friend,
I want to thank you for reading all these posts so far, and I hope you’ve found them helpful and encouraging. Today, I want to focus on you – how are you feeling? It’s ok; be honest. I know feelings can be messy, and sometimes it’s easier to give a shallow answer.
But “fine” is not a feeling.
I have found that when I have feelings that I either don’t know how to or don’t want to express, journaling gives my brain an output for the words inside. When that isn’t enough, sometimes giving ourselves even a few minutes to just be emotional – whether that looks like crying, being frustrated, or even jumping for joy can be enough to let the emotions out.
If you are struggling to express your emotions, or maybe you don’t want to let them out, it’s ok to have those thoughts. We have all had times (and still have them) where we simply struggle to put words to what’s inside us. Friend, it’s ok. You are not alone. Jesus sees you, and he knows exactly what you’re going through right now.
In fact, he felt all the same feelings when he was here on earth. When he cried with his friends, laughed and played, and confronted people – he went through all the emotions you have felt! So one of the most effective things we can do when we are struggling is to just talk to him. I’ll help you start – sit in a quiet corner and say this (out loud or in your head). Speak as if you’re just talking to a close friend. It doesn’t need to be anything special or professional – just speak your heart.
Jesus, I’m struggling. I feel [insert how you feel]. I don’t know how to move forward from here; I need help. Please give me the strength to be honest and feel all my emotions. In your name, Amen.
I know that this is hard to admit, but friend, you are strong and brave. You’re healing, one step at a time. Thank you for spending some time with me today – you did well. And always remember:
Jesus sees you, and He is proud. Don’t give up.
Love,
Missy
